In many markets — especially Brazil — WhatsApp isn’t “just another channel.” It’s the channel. If your website doesn’t take people into a conversation with almost zero friction, you’re asking for too much effort right when they’ve already shown interest.

That doesn’t mean sticking a blinking green button everywhere. It means designing the path: why click, what happens next, and how you respond.

Where the WhatsApp button works best

  • Above the fold (hero), near the main quote request.
  • After explaining the service — when the natural question is “how much / how do I start.”
  • In the footer and as a floating mobile button (carefully, so it doesn’t cover content).
  • On specific service pages, with a contextual pre-filled message.

On mobile, a floating button helps because the thumb is already in the action zone. On desktop, in-content buttons often feel more “official” than only an icon stuck to the corner.

A pre-filled message makes a difference

Instead of opening an empty chat, prepare a simple text. People can edit it, but they arrive organized — and you understand where the contact came from.

Hi! I came from the website and want a quote for [service].

For campaign landing pages, personalize: “I came from the [offer] ad.” That reduces back-and-forth and speeds up support.

Common mistakes that kill conversion

  1. Wrong number or broken link (test on iPhone and Android).
  2. Hidden business hours — the customer messages and vanishes with no reply.
  3. Too many competing CTAs: call, email, chat, form with no hierarchy.
  4. Slow page: the button exists, but people give up before it loads.
  5. Promising a 1-minute reply and taking a day — expectations matter.

WhatsApp + form: you don’t have to pick only one

Some people prefer a form (especially during a busy workday or when they want to attach context). Others want an immediate reply. Offer both, with clear priority: WhatsApp as the main path and the form as an alternative.

What to set up beyond the button

  • WhatsApp Business with name, photo, and description aligned to the brand.
  • Away message outside business hours.
  • Catalog or quick replies for repeated questions.
  • UTMs or different messages per page to know what’s converting.

Bottom line

A good website without well-placed WhatsApp is a locked showcase. WhatsApp without a website is conversation without context. Together — with clear messaging and disciplined replies — they turn visits into real conversations.
